Mission & Values

Mission statement

Our mission statement reflects us as a group of companies, and is embedded in everything we do:

Through continual improvement, innovation & inclusion, and by combining our resources, our mission is to provide a seamless and unrivalled equipment hire service to our valued clients across the live events sector.

Sustainability

As a group of companies, we are committed to having a positive effect on our environment, and driving change within our sector.  We operate an ongoing, sustainable and long-term approach, continually reviewing & modifying the way we work, in line with best practice.

We have split our initiatives into several sections: Products, technology, logistics, staff & environmental initiatives.

Products

Our group product procurement process focuses on working with responsible suppliers that share our sustainability ethos. We aim to source premium quality, durable furniture, helping to extend the lifecycle of the products.

Group companies prioritise working with locally based suppliers (regional / UK-wide & Europe) to minimise the carbon footprint generated by their product procurement process.

Products are specifically selected to be fashion-proofed, to ensure longevity, via the use of changeable covers / tops / finishes etc to suit ever-changing market trends.

Group companies also ensure that that their products can easily be repaired / modified, to further extend their product lifecycle. They select items that are repairable with parts which are easily available from UK-based suppliers. The group has on-site workshops, as well as a dedicated in-house refurbishment facility which can refurbish and/or update equipment, rather than relying on replacement. They also partner with upholsterers to refresh and renew soft furnishings wherever possible, rather than have a throw-away culture.

The group also creates bespoke furniture products in-house. They prioritise making these products from recycled materials such as repurposed scaffolding poles & timbers, railway sleepers and pallets, for instance.

Many group companies offer reusable product derivatives vs standard product lines, helping to engage and drive customers to these more sustainable solutions.

Technology

Group companies use state-of-the-art washing Meiko & Hobart conveyor washing machines, with a policy of replacing older machines when necessary, and only purchasing the latest energy-efficient models. For instance, their industrial wash machines are all operated using 100% renewable energy and have the lowest water consumption compared to any of their competitors.

All our sites nationwide use LED lighting, as part of our overall energy saving initiative.

Logistics

Our Midlands HQ & national distribution centre is a highly specified grade A sustainable building and is EPC A-rated.

Companies within the eventhireGroup operate from a network of regional distribution centres. This contributes to a reduction in the carbon footprint generated as a result of their operations.

Group companies have tackled the use of single-use plastic required to protect furniture in-transit by creating their own reusable quilted furniture covers and investing in load blankets. Furthermore, products are secured for transport using appropriate strapping to minimise the use of single-use materials such as shrink-wrap.

The group has invested in new vehicles which comply with the “Ultra Low Emissions” regulations. They also own purpose-built box trailers which are aerodynamically shaped. These hold more equipment than standard trailers, resulting in fewer journeys and increased fuel efficiency. Moving forward, the fleet will gradually be upgraded to all-electric.

All vehicles are regularly maintained to the highest standard in order to keep emissions and fuel consumption to a minimum.

Group companies manage their logistics with the environment in mind, aiming to reduce our pollution by spending the least amount of time on the road as possible. All operational staff are trained to ensure that order accuracy, loading and route planning are maintained to eliminate “second trips” and, therefore, minimise vehicle mileages.

Group companies offer regular refresher sessions to their drivers and crew to make sure they are up-to-date on best practices when it comes to economical driving and packing vans.

Staff

Companies in the eventhireGroup are committed to cutting down on all manner of waste in workspaces, whether it is paper, metal, plastic or cardboard. Everything in their offices and warehouses is separated and recycled to ensure that the impact on their local landfills is kept to a minimum.

All office staff are encouraged to car share. For large events, labour is transported in a single crew cab to and from the venue to reduce fuel consumption and, therefore, to further minimise their carbon footprint.

All the eventhireGroup management team have undergone the Eco Learning Hub ‘Sustainability in Hospitality’ course – a CPD-accredited course which certifies those that reach a high level of environmental awareness, allowing each individual and team member to create their own action plan to reduce carbon emissions.

Environmental Initiatives

We understand that it is important to ensure that any carbon emissions generated are offset by environmental initiatives. However, as a group, we are also striving to become carbon-neutral at source, so not having to wholly rely on carbon-offsetting, and are working with a number of strategic partners on this issue across all our companies.
